The San Anselmo Police Department is currently authorized 19 sworn police officers and 7 non-sworn personnel. The department's services include patrol, investigations, traffic, juvenile services as well as several programs designed to enhance the quality of life in San Anselmo. We at the San Anselmo Police Department are proud of our organization and the services we provide to the community.

What is Nixle? Nixle is a trusted, realtime, community based information service that you can choose to receive at no cost. It is easy to register for and use. You can choose what type of information you receive and whether it comes to you by text message, email or via your web browser. San Anselmo Police Department now posts public safety alerts, traffic bulletins and community information on Nixle. The Town's Municipal Code is on-line. This on-line version is revised on a regular basis to keep it current.

• San Anselmo Police Department Policy Manual
Our Policy Manual sets forth rules and/or guidelines for our actions in many areas. Many of these rules are the result of state or federal law or court decisions. Our manual is revised yearly to keep it current. The manual was last updated May 11, 2010. If you have any questions about the information contained in the Policy Manual please contact us.

• Our Green Police Vehicles
The Police Department replaces its fleet vehicles on a six year cycle. The recent advances in automotive technology are allowing the Department to "Go Green" with the latest replacements to our patrol, Community Service, and unmarked vehicles.

• Traffic Calming Guidebook
The Town commissioned the Traffic Calming Guidebook to assist Town Officials and citizens in identifying solutions to common traffic problems. If you have a difficult traffic problem in your neighborhood we suggest you read through the Guidebook to see the pros and cons of various possible solutions. Officers of our Traffic Safety and Enforcement Unit will be glad to talk to you about any traffic problems.

Informational Brochures and Fliers

The Police Department has brochures and fliers to give residents information and assistance with a number of issues. The following are available on line:

• Barking Dogs
One of the most often reported neighborhood problems involves barking dogs. The Town has adopted the Marin County Code regarding habitual animal noise and the Police Department has created this flier to assist dog owners and their neighbors in resolving this problem.

• Commercial Solicitation Permit Application
A commercial solitiation permit, in addition to a Town business license, is required before anyone can solicite door to door for commercial purposes.

• Halloween Safety Tips
The School / Law Enforcement Partnership is a county-wide group of school and law enforcement officials who work together to address issues concerning students of all ages. From alcohol , drug and tobacco use to youth forums on a variety of related topics, this group works to apply their varied skills to achieving one goal - the safest and best possible learning environment for our children. This Halloween Safety Tips flier is but one example of their work.

• Marsy's Law
On November 4, 2008 voters approved an amendment to the California Constitution which set in place "Marsy's Law", the Crime Victim's Bill of Rights. This pamphlet explains victim's rights and lists resources for victims who need assistance.
