Cultivate Age-Friendly San Anselmo.

The San Anselmo Age Friendly Task Force will distribute a survey to the community and draft a strategic plan. They will create programs and events designed to support and enrich the lives of older adults. Program topics could include financial assistance, retirement options, safe driving, and exercise.

  • Fiscal Impact: Most library programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the San Anselmo Library. Minimal impact organizing the task force.

Add Roku and Chromecast Media Players to the library’s circulating collection.

Add Roku and Chromecast Media Players to the library circulating collection to facilitate patron’s ability to stream Kanopy and Hoopla content on their home TVs.

Expand Children’s book collection area

Circulation of children’s books is high, but the children’s book collection area is relatively small. Goal is to expand the shelving area for children’s books. This will be achieved by shifting the adult nonfiction collection and making room for children’s biographies. This will free up space for more children’s books.

Improve technology access within the library building.

Provide additional computer access with laptop computers that can be checked out for use in the Library, a scanner, and Wi-Fi printing.

Develop programs that tie-in with the Technology Grant.

Development, promote and provide various programs to be offered in the Carnegie Reading room, after Technology upgrade.

Facilitate making substantial improvements to Town parks.

Create volunteer opportunities for residents to get involved in Town activities.

Upgrade and improve the facilities located at the Isabel Cook Community Center.

This project would include improvements to the back stairwell of ICC, signage, and improvements to the downstairs rooms and the Vista room.

  • Fiscal Impact: The Department will use reserve funds which will be included in the FY 2019/20 Recreation Fund budget under capital outlay.

Expand Connections to Youth and Teen Services.

Work with local groups, non-profits, instructors, and educators to create opportunities for youth and teens in the areas of recreation and enrichment, with a specific emphasis on reaching underserved youth and teens.

Develop and coordinate a funding plan for implementation of the Memorial Park Master Plan.

This process will include a proposal to Town Council to place a unity tax on the November ballot. There are also other monies available to complete the project.

Begin the Memorial Park Restoration Project.

Assuming successful fundraising, the project would go through CEQA, construction document and bidding phases. Recreation staff would host community meetings to get feedback on the plans for individual components of the Restoration Project to make sure the park meets the specific needs of the community. Most of the Restoration Project would occur in FY 20/21.

  • Fiscal Impact: The current project cost estimate is $8.24 million. The majority of the funding would be a unit tax if approved by voters. There are also other monies available to complete the project.
