Frida Kahlo returns to San Francisco 90 years after her first visit to the city in an exhibition examining how politics, gender, trauma, sexuality, and national identity influenced her diverse modes of creativity. Docent Marueen O’Brien will share how this new exhibition at the de Young Museum paints an intimate portrait of the artist through a trove of personal items, including photographs, her vibrant Tehuana costumes, and more.

John Andrews, a docent from the Asian Art Museum, will share sculptures, paintings, textiles, and more from the exhibit, which brings together some of the country’s most significant collections of Himalayan art.
