[ARCHIVED] Parking Lot Closures for Upcoming Projects

Main Street

In May, 2018, the Town Council approved construction of three Low Impact Development (LID) projects that will help clean storm water flowing to our creeks and beautify our Town.  The projects are partially funded with a grant from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.

The first project is reconstruction of the Green Waste Pad at the Town’s Corporation Yard at the end of San Francisco Boulevard that is used to stage leaves, branches and other plant matter that is hauled away by Marin Sanitary Service to their compost facilities.  The repaving of the pad also includes a bio-retention area that will filter rain water that falls on the pad.

The second project is bio-retention and planting trees and landscaping in the Greenfield Ave Parklet near Lincoln Park.  Storm water runoff from the street will be directed into the planter area to be filtered by the bio-retention soil before flowing into the storm drainage system that ultimately flows to the creek.  In addition to the landscaping, bicycle racks and a drinking fountain will be installed.

The third project is repaving and re-configuring the Magnolia Avenue Parking Lot.  The number of electric vehicle charging stations will be doubled, and bio-retention landscaping, Magnolia trees and overhead lighting will be installed.  The parking meters will be replaced with a single pay station.  The lot and Kientz Lane will be closed from July 16 through September 7.  During this time, parking lot users will be directed to other Town lots at Pine Street and Creek Park, San Rafael Avenue as well as other nearby side-streets, Tamalpais Avenue, Magnolia Avenue and Tunstead Avenue.  Also keep in mind that the employee lot behind Town Hall is open to the public after 5 pm on weekdays, and all weekend.
