[ARCHIVED] Town Council to Discuss Fire Department Leadership Options on Tuesday Night

RVFD Logo

On Tuesday night, January 24th, the San Anselmo Town Council will be discussing options for the future leadership and governance of the Ross Valley Fire Department (RVFD). The department currently has an agreement with the Marin County Fire Department to provide executive management for the department, which includes a Chief, a Deputy Chief and support services. This agreement will expire on June 30th of this year and will not be renewed due to shifting priorities at the County level.

The Ross Valley Fire Department Fire Board commissioned a "Future leadership and Governance" study in 2022 to identify and analyze the options available to RVFD moving forward. These options were presented at the January 11th Fire Board meeting, and after a long discussion it was decided that the next step would be to introduce the options to each member agency of the RVFD (the Town of Fairfax, the Town of Ross, the Town of San Anselmo and the Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District).
