COVID-19 Emergency Ban on EvictionsOn Tuesday, the Marin County Board of Supervisors approved an emergency resolution to prevent residents and business owners from being evicted because of a sudden loss of income tied to theCOVID-19 pandemic. This ban is in effect countywide in every city, town, and unincorporated area of Marin County and lasts until May 31, 2020, unless extended by the Board of Supervisors.
The resolution requires renters and lease holders to notify their landlord within 30 days after the rent is due that they are unable to pay because of financial impacts related to COVID-19. A landlord may seek payment of unpaid rent after the expiration of the local emergency, but may not charge late fees.
County staff are working to draft FAQs and sample language for renters to use to notify their landlords. All materials are being translated into Spanish and Vietnamese and will be available on the Marin Community Development Agency’s Renter and Landlord Resources webpage.

Age-Friendly San Anselmo Reaching Out to Our Community! The Town of San Anselmo Age-Friendly is committed to providing you the information, resources and guidance you need during this time of uncertainty. We are adding information to our website daily at https://www.townofsananselmo.org/1325/Age-Friendly. We have been developing a volunteer and phone check-in system for our residents. Our goal is to provide online resources to help you shelter in place and stay active, connected and entertained. We are also creating a place where our residents may make requests for a Check-in and Chat volunteer phone call. Depending on your needs, these calls won’t just be welfare checks, but also social calls providing the opportunity for connecting with a neighbor, perhaps helping you with any technology issues you may have or sharing resources with you that might answer your questions. We will ensure the privacy of your information and we will have guidelines, standards and support for our volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to run online book clubs, music groups, morning coffee chats, topical discussions and begin life story collections on our amazing San Anselmo Residents for a future book. We are also developing an online speaker series based on the informational priorities that were expressed in the Age-Friendly survey results joining the other Age-Friendly towns at times to share our conversations and meet new people. Our first one will be in a few weeks on “End of Life Planning”. We will make sure that you know how to join us via your computer or phone. We will keep you updated with more events and programs to come! If you have any questions or want to volunteer before our webpages are up and running call Kevin Macleod at kmacleod@townofsananselmo.org.

Made with “Love and Gloves”
The Recreation Department Reaches Out to Our Community! The Parkside Preschool teachers have been working hard to clean and organize the preschool. They came across some supplies and created activity bags for all the Parkside families. The bags include word books, bubbles, coloring crown, flash cards, color by numbers books and more. The packages have been delivered to the doorsteps of the families with a note saying “Made with Love and Gloves” During these difficult times, the Town of San Anselmo Recreation Department has resolved to put forth every effort in maintaining its connection with the community. The foundation of our Department lies in the bonds that we form with our community. We are creating activities and resources that keep our community members engaged with one another. As a result of our current circumstances our Recreation programs are not operating, so we’re bringing the fun to you! While we are all at home and following the issued shelter at home order from Marin County let’s have some fun! The Recreation Department is reaching out to the Community to provide opportunities for playing at home. Check out our webpage at https://www.townofsananselmo.org/305/Recreation for fun ideas and activities. We may be isolated, but we're not alone! Connect with us and share ways to stay active and engaged over the coming weeks!

The San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce and the Town of San Anselmo have collaborated to bring this new resource to our communityDid you know that most restaurants in San Anselmo are open for business! Due to the Shelter in Place Order, they have had to pivot from in-house dining to curbside take-out and home delivery. SanAnselmoEats.com is a community website with listings from restaurants and other food/community-serving businesses who are open and ready to serve. The Town has provided dedicated curbside loading zones to businesses. Local support and participation by customers helps to feed our community while supporting our local businesses and their employees. This is a perfect example of a win-win scenario! Stay InformedThe community is encouraged to sign-up for regular updates from SanAnselmoEats.com. Just click THIS LINK and provide your contact information. You can also text to join by texting CURBSIDE to 42882.Invitation to ParticipateFood service or other community-serving businesses are encouraged to send listing information to the SanAnselmoEats.com team. Please send relevant information (business name, logo, website address, phone number and email) to sananselmoeats@gmail.com, or fill out the form at the bottom of the SanAnselmoEats.com website. Daily Specials/UpdatesParticipating restaurants are encouraged to send in information about daily specials by 11:00pm on the previous day. The website will be updated twice daily. A special thanks goes out to San Anselmo resident Pat Townsley for his tireless efforts in making this program happens.

Message from Sustainability Commission regarding Reusables The zero waste lifestyle is here to stay and is gaining more traction every day. While the coronavirus will change many things in our lives for a time, it won’t change our core values like working for healthy people, a healthy planet, and a sustainable economy. Reusables are still safe. Soap and hot water are effective at killing coronavirus, other viruses, and bacteria. Home and commercial dishwashers are more effective than hand-washing because of the added benefit of high temperature and prolonged washing. Construction
What is the impact on construction projects in San Anselmo? So long as social distancing practices are used during construction, a variety of projects are allowed. The Town recommends only one contractor onsite at a time to minimize potential exposure to the virus. All residential construction projects that are partly completed can continue to completion in order to ensure health and safety. The Order prohibits new construction projects unless they are adding to the supply of our county’s housing stock (i.e. building a second unit, building a new home, etc.) or maintaining the habitability of homes in order to avoid displacement of residents. Business construction projects related to maintaining or upgrading essential business, government or health care infrastructure are also allowed to go forward. The County advises that residents must defer their remodel or renovation projects unless they are necessary to restore your home to a safe, sanitary, and habitable space.
