San Anselmo retail businesses can start to sell curbside beginning Monday, May 18th To let everyone know the town is open for business, San Anselmo’s Economic Development Committee has created a series of lighthearted window posters that will encourage people to support our merchants while staying safe. This poster campaign is intended to appeal to San Anselmo’s sense of community and connectedness while highlighting that our businesses are ready to serve. Its tone and messaging are purposely upbeat in the face of a very serious situation. We hope you enjoy them. Look for new messages coming as the situation changes and more businesses are allowed to come back.

The SIP order continued to keep closed those Park Facilities that draw regional crowds from across the greater Bay Area such as Point Reyes and all Marin Municipal Water District lands. However, the order does allow local jurisdictions to continue to prohibit motorized access to any Park Facility.

Marin Great Plates Delivered Program
In partnership with the local community, the County of Marin is participating in the State of California’s Great Plates Delivered Program, set up to support older adults who are sheltering in place, unable to access meals, and ineligible for other nutrition programs. Marin Great Plates program is free to recipients, and is also a way to support local restaurants and other food providers who are struggling because of the economic downturn related to COVID-19. The Marin County Board Supervisors approved the program during its May 12 meeting as proposed by the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Marin Great Plates will launch its pilot program and deliver three restaurant meals a day, five days per week, to older adults starting May 18. The program will run through May 29 with the possibility of extension through June 10. To find out more about the program click here.

“Age-Friendly is still offering errand and chore volunteers, and emotional support volunteers for residents. Age-Friendly San Anselmo will continue running the emergency neighbor to neighbor support program for as long as we are sheltering in place. We have many volunteers who can run errands or walk dogs for those who need some help. We realize the length of this virus event may be causing some of our residents’ psychological and social stress and loneliness. We have trained individuals who have volunteered to have regular calls with people who need support and assistance with their feelings and anxiety. Please visit the Age Friendly San Anselmo webpage, or use the buttons below to volunteer, or to be matched with a volunteer counselor.

Find a Path Back to Normalcy on MarinRecovers.com Recovery process outlined with content from local municipalities and experts Marin County is working with local industry advisory groups, comprised of subject matter experts from various fields, who will provide recommendations about how an industry – from retail to recreation to rental properties – could reopen in compliance with COVID-19 public health orders.
In addition to industry feedback, residents have access to a new online resource that provides step-by-step guidance on the gradual return to normalcy. The website, MarinRecovers.com, connects Marin County residents, business owners, community leaders, and public health professionals to collaborate on reopening the economy and community in a safe manner.A public comment form allows individuals to provide feedback to advisory groups who are leading the campaign. Group members will work within that industry to educate the community, updating content on MarinRecovers.com and successfully implementing the plans. There are three stages in the reopening of the local economy and relaxing of sheltering orders. They are: - Slow the Spread
- Sequential Reopening Under the Stay-at-Home Order
- End of the Stay-at-Home Order
Each stage of recovery has criteria that must be met before moving to the next phase to continue the successful mitigation of COVID-19 while building the infrastructure needed to move forward. To reach the final stage, enough immunity must be present in the community through natural immunity or immunization to allow unrestricted activity across all domains. Given COVID-19’s prevalence with no immunization in existence, it will take time to achieve that stage.
Each municipality in Marin will contribute content for MarinRecovers.com so there is one unified recovery resource for all Marin residents. The Marin County Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website will still remain the authority for local COVID-19 case data and medical information.

Need to run errands or exercise? The rules of the road still apply CMPA encourages everyone to “go safely” during National Bicycle Safety Month While shelter-in-place orders are in effect, we understand many residents need to run errands or go outside to exercise. May is Bicycle Safety Month and Central Marin Police are encouraging those out walking, driving or riding their bikes to look out for one another while practicing social distancing measures.
“Biking is a great way to get fresh air and exercise, but keep in mind others are staying at home too and have the same idea,” Corporal Scott Niklewicz said. “It’s important to keep you and your family safe by remaining aware of your surroundings even though there’s less vehicular traffic.”
CMPA offers the following tips to help keep you and your family safe:
- Always wear a helmet and never ride impaired.
- Follow social distancing measures and maintain at least six feet of physical space between other riders and those out walking.
- Be seen: wear brightly colored clothing and have bike lights handy (front white light and rear red flashing light or reflectors)
- Use hand signals when turning or stopping.
- Rules of the road still apply: Bicyclists must travel in the same direction of traffic and have the same requirements as any slow moving vehicle.
- Keep outside trips to a minimum; they should only be to get essential items or exercise
