A New Creek Park Parklet is coming! With Creek Park plaza closed by the County, the Town is moving quickly to create a parklet - in front of the plaza on San Anselmo Avenue - to provide additional seating and gathering space for our community!
A portion of the new space will be ready this weekend and the entire area will be fully operational by next week with picnic tables and trash receptacles.
Thank you to our San Anselmo Public Works Department!

Creek Park is OpenCreek Park - including the Redwood Grove picnic tables, the grassy amphitheater and stage area are open for the community to use.
You can access the park via the pedestrian bridge from San Anselmo Avenue or from Center Boulevard and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

Creek Park Plaza Closed by County Flood Control
The Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (District), owners of building bridge (BB #2) at 632-636 San Anselmo Avenue, has terminated the lease between the Town and the District for public use of the building bridge (which houses the wood chip plaza) effective Friday, September 16, 2022. The District has deemed the building bridge unsafe for public use based on reports they have received that identify structural deficiencies within the foundation and recommendations that all public use be terminated immediately.
On September 27, 2022 Town Council appointed an adhoc subcommittee to focus on the BB#2 situation and to further research options, work with the District and make recommendations to the full Town Council.

Housing Element Update What is the Housing Element?San Anselmo is in the process of updating its Housing Element, a chapter of the General Plan that outlines the plans and policies the community has in place to ensure we comply with state statutes. One component of our obligation is determined by the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA). The RHNA establishes the minimum number of new housing units across various income levels that the Town must encourage the development of in the next 8 years by establishing supporting policy and development regulations.
How can you get involved? Do you have ideas about where new housing could be located in San Anselmo? Share them with us! The Housing Element Advisory Committee (HEAC) meetings are an opportunity to listen and provide feedback on preliminary housing opportunity sites identified by the Town and the HEAC. Your input is an essential part of this process.
To access the revised sites, click on the San Anselmo Suitability Viewer Tool and click on the layer titled, “Revised Staff Identified Sites.” Information on attending the meeting via Zoom may be found here: meeting agenda Information on the Housing Element Update can be found at the Town’s Housing Element Update webpage and public comment via email may be sent to hscoble@townofsananselmo.org. October 2022 Fire-smart Landscaping Tips from UC Marin Master GardenersRight Plant, Right Place - Plan Your Garden With the implications of climate change, we need to adapt and be more mindful planning our gardens, including what to plant. There are no fire-resistant plants since all plants can burn. Plant spacing, size, and maintenance are more important than type of plant. Rather than focus on individual plant species, think about growth habits and plant characteristics.
Consider: - Drought tolerant plants, low-growing non-woody shrubs and deep-rooted trees with thick bark, leaves over needles.
- California natives, that add critical biodiversity for pollinators, can use less water once established and can stay hydrated longer.
- Horizontal and vertical spacing with hardscape between plant islands to breakup path of fire.
In general, avoid plants and trees that: - Tend to build up dead thatch inside or under a green surface layer.
- Produce and shed excessive dead, dry, or fine debris that can become fuel for fire.
- Are Invasive.
