PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff
Today, PG&E notified the County that they are activating their Public Safety Power Shut-Off protocols and will potentially initiate a power shut down for much of Marin County beginning at 12pm tomorrow. If activated, the shutdowns will be scheduled to be done over several hours so actual shut down times will vary throughout the county.
The Town is actively coordinating with our operational area response partners and monitoring the situation. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is putting into motion its Electrical System De-energization Response Plan. Additionally, it is coordinating with nearby response partners in monitoring the power situation. The Emergency Operations Center will be activated in the event of the Public Safety Power Shutoff.
Remember that an extreme wind event could negatively impact our notification systems if cell service coverage and WIFI is disrupted. Consider having a battery-powered radio available and tune in to local radio stations KCBS AM 740 or KGO AM 810.
In the event of a power shutoff in our area, the San Anselmo Library will be OPEN on SUNDAY, October 27 from 12:00pm (Noon) to 5:00pm to provide you with a power station to recharge your devices. Other services will be limited though you will be able to check out materials. It is not entirely clear at the moment whether we will have Internet access but we hope to. We will be open regular hours next week as well. In addition, the Library will be open during it’s normal operational hours (10:00am to 8:00pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Thursday).
Public Safety officials remind residents and visitors that it is important to have a plan. Please see the Public Safety Power Shutdown Information Sheet.
